After a more than two-year hiatus, team members from Continued and sister company Simucase gathered in person at an all-company meeting in San Antonio, Texas.
This is typically an annual event, but the COVID-19 pandemic had prevented the team from gathering since their 2019 meeting in Palm Springs, California. Nearly three-fourths of the company came together in San Antonio, while the remainder of the team joined remotely.
The company meeting brings the entire remote workforce to one location and is filled with special events and team-building activities.
This year’s meeting celebrated the perseverance and successes of the past two years, including team and product growth, new initiatives, and an enduring commitment to the company’s culture.
“It is always special when we can come together in person, but considering the global challenges we’ve faced the last two years, it’s never felt so wonderful to share time together as a team.” — CEO Stacy Williams
A peer-nominated awards program was introduced at the meeting to recognize team members who go above and beyond to exemplify the company’s core values. The first recipients were announced at the meeting, and future culture awards will be given on a quarterly basis.
This year’s event included special guests from IMPACT, a program supported in part by Continued and Simucase that provides formal mentoring to underrepresented communication sciences students. Program directors Lauren Calandruccio, PhD, and Jessica Sullivan, PhD, presented details on the program, and two students shared their experiences.
As part of the company’s robust wellness program, a half day was devoted to a team-building scavenger hunt that got everyone moving around the San Antonio River Walk.
Each team member enjoyed one of several offered excursions, including biking and walking tours, kayaking, food and drink tastings, or the San Antonio Zoo.
The three-day event also included an evening on a ranch with live music, line dancing, and dinner, and the final evening included an authentic Tex-Mex dinner with mariachi.
“It is always special when we can come together in person, but considering the global challenges we’ve faced the last two years, it’s never felt so wonderful to share time together as a team,” said CEO Stacy Williams.
“Our company continues to grow and take on exciting new endeavors, but one thing that never changes is our commitment to our culture and each other. I’ve never felt more optimistic about what the future holds for Continued and Simucase.”
