Company lands repeat recognition, moves up 18 spots on list
For the second year in a row, Great Place to Work® and FORTUNE have named Continued one of the Best Small Workplaces. Continued, a leading provider of online continuing education, took the sixth spot out of 50 featured companies on the list of small businesses, moving up 18 spots from 2018.
To determine the 2019 Best Small Workplaces and the 2019 Best Medium Workplaces lists, Great Place to Work analyzed anonymous survey feedback representing more than 189,000 employees at Great Place to Work-Certified™ organizations. Employees responded to more than 60 survey questions anonymously rating their employers.
“The Continued family is extremely honored to receive this designation for a second year, an achievement that reflects the dedication and passion of our entire team and the culture we have built together,” said Continued CEO Tony Perlak. “To move up in rank is incredibly exciting and affirms what we at Continued already know—our team has a shared commitment to collaboration, creative thinking, lifelong learning, and ongoing progress that makes our culture truly unique.”
The Best Small Workplaces and Best Medium Workplaces stand out for excelling in a rapidly changing marketplace. In addition to being innovators in the field of online learning, Continued has been a 100% virtual workplace from its inception and prioritizes workplace culture as a fundamental building block of the company.
“Within all levels of the company, the culture at Continued is consistently reinforced,” said Asher Primrose, Director of Human Resources for Continued. “Company leaders fully believe that happy team members who feel appreciated are better employees and attribute the organization’s success to this philosophy.”
The company has placed the highest value on culture since its inception in 1999, but in recent years, Continued has focused on enhancing its culture in a variety of ways. Some of these initiatives include “best in class” channels to connect in a virtual environment, an innovation program that encourages anyone in the company to bring forward new ideas, flexible holidays and time off programs, a company book club, charitable gift matching, and a robust wellness program. The wellness initiative includes a reimbursement program, a company-wide health coaching benefit, and a corporate Fitbit program.
“Small and medium-sized businesses have a tremendous influence on the US economy and workforce,” said Michael C. Bush, CEO of Great Place to Work. “Organizations like Continued have found the key not only for winning top talent against their larger competitors, but also for playing a leadership role in dramatically improving the day-to-day experience of US labor conditions by creating great workplaces where everyone can succeed regardless of who they are or what job they perform.”
The Best Small Workplaces and Best Medium Workplaces lists are part of a series of rankings by Great Place to Work and FORTUNE based on employee feedback from Great Place to Work-Certified™ organizations.
