Our story is as much about our members as it is about us.
Mitch Miller, PTA, joins the Continued community from Carrollton, Georgia, where he works as a home health physical therapist assistant for Amedisys Home Health. He specializes in improving home safety by increasing strength, balance, and safety awareness to decrease fall risk.
“Passion is the reason I go to work everyday. I am passionate about keeping patients out of the hospital and at home with their loved ones. I am devoted to giving the best care possible, so the patient can have the highest quality of life.”
What do you like most about what you do?
My job offers an abundance of versatility, which never allows for a mundane day. However, what doesn’t change is the light in a patient’s eye when he or she is able to get up from the couch for the first time, or take that first walk from the bed to the bathroom, or even sit on the edge of the bed for long periods of time without help—these are the things I love most about my job!
Why are you passionate about your field?
Passion is the reason I go to work everyday. I am passionate about keeping patients out of the hospital and at home with their loved ones. I am devoted to giving the best care possible, so the patient can have the highest quality of life.
What value does online learning hold for you?
The flexibility and great quality of online learning lets me stay up to date without missing time with my family. I can be in the comfort of my home and learn at my own pace.
What impact has Continued had on your ability to advance your training or apply new skills to your area of practice?
Continued has allowed me to access the courses that best fit my line of work. For example, I am able to focus on balance courses, since this is a priority in elderly patients to decrease their fall risk. Another great aspect is I am able to take courses to help expand my knowledge in other areas that I wouldn’t otherwise have been willing to take. I can’t say enough good things about Continued!
Thank you, Mitch Miller, for being a part of our Continued story.
