This course delves into the intricate mechanisms of cardiac rhythms, including normal sinus rhythm and various dysrhythmias, equipping participants with the knowledge and skills necessary to recognize, interpret, and respond to cardiac rhythm abnormalities effectively.

Fantastic Voyage: Why and How We Explore the Lungs During Mechanical Ventilation
Presented by Evan Richards, Advanced Practice Clinical Consultant, BSc, RT
Video
Course: #2282Level: Intermediate1 Hour
Some diagnostic tools tell you that you have or have not done organ damage; other tools can give early warning that you are ABOUT to do damage and are, thus, more preventative. This course compares the tools we use clinically, describes best practices for avoiding injury during MV, and offers a glimpse of the future of diagnostics.

Tracheostomy Care: Best Practices for Ventilator Units and Post-Acute Care
Presented by Zhanna Sorin, BSRT, RRT

Course: #2418Level: Introductory1 Hour
This course provides an overview of comprehensive tracheostomy care across ventilator units and post-acute care settings. The course discusses how to perform routine trach care, identify appropriate equipment, and respond to emergency situations and complications in diverse patient populations.

AUTO-PEEP: Calculation and Maneuver
Presented by Duane Reed, EdD, RRT, RCP
Video
Course: #2107Level: Introductory1 Hour
Auto-PEEP, or Auto-Positive End-Expiratory Pressure, In respiratory therapy, is a critical phenomenon where insufficient time is allowed for complete exhalation, leading to an accumulation of air in the lungs before the next breath, potentially causing complications such as barotrauma and compromising oxygenation. The introductory course explores the determination of Auto-PEEP using extended methods, providing insights into the research on its identification and potential treatment measures.

A Tale of Two Time Constants: The Best of Times and the Worst of Times
Presented by Evan Richards, Advanced Practice Clinical Consultant, BSc, RT
Video
Course: #2281Level: Intermediate1 Hour
Time constants are critical for understanding best practices for mechanical ventilation, including NIV, conventional ventilation, and high frequency ventilation. This lecture defines time constants, how they change as lung injury evolves, and their importance for properly applying mechanical and non-invasive ventilation.

Mechanical Ventilation: Lung Mechanics of Resistance and Compliance Measurement
Presented by Duane Reed, EdD, RRT, RCP
Video
Course: #2093Level: Intermediate1 Hour
This introductory course introduces mechanical ventilation concepts, including lung mechanics related to resistance and compliance. Evidence-based methods for respiratory mechanics measurement are discussed, along with identifying early signs of pulmonary deterioration and best practice goals for management.
