Question
What is Telerehabilitation?
Answer
Telerehabilitation refers to the delivery of rehabilitation services via information and communication technologies. Clinically this term encompasses a range of rehabilitation and habilitation services that include assessment, monitoring, prevention, intervention, supervision, education, consultation, and counseling.
Telerehabilitation services are delivered to adults and children by a broad range of professionals that may include but is not limited to physical therapists, speech-language pathologists, occupational therapists, audiologists, rehabilitation physicians and nurses, rehabilitation engineers, assisted technologists, teachers, psychologists, social workers, and dietitians, to name a few.
So breaking it down, telepractice or teletherapy overall links live licensed therapists to clients, students, and patients who otherwise have difficulty receiving services. And this everybody has a clear understanding of today. It's being used also additionally in assessment and treatment for a wide range of disorders. So not just solely for therapy sessions, but also for assessment and diagnostics.
