This course will focus on disenfranchised trauma. Trauma, like grief, may also go unacknowledged and/or invalidated because the person who is traumatized (e.g., sexual assault, domestic violence) may fear that others will not understand, or that others may minimize their traumatic experience. When this trauma impact is unacknowledged, it can become disenfranchised.

Lisa Zoll is a licensed clinical social worker and has worked for 17 years in the field of Social Work, in various capacities including as a Clinical Psychiatric Specialist at the Penn State Hershey Medical Center Department of Psychiatry in the adult partial hospitalization program and the psychiatric outpatient clinic. Lisa was appointed an Adjunct Instructor in the Master of Social Work program at Temple University, Harrisburg, where she began teaching courses on "Loss and Grief” and "Assessment and the DSM." In 2014, she was appointed as a full-time instructor in the program where she taught courses across the social work curriculum until it's closure. In 2018, Lisa founded "Grief Relief, LLC" where she specializes in helping clients challenged by loss and grief.

Leslie Davila has a master's degree in Criminal Justice from Saint Joseph's University and a Bachelor of Arts in Sociology and Criminal Justice from La Salle University. For 23 years, she has committed her career to advocate on behalf of children and victims/survivors of crime. Appointed director of the Office for Child and Youth Protection (OCYP) of the Archdiocese of Philadelphia in 2011 she oversees the Archdiocesan commitment to protect children and young people and its efforts toward healing and reconciliation for those who were sexually abused as minors.
